We are the premier learn-to-swim provider for people of all ages, offering programs for children ages 3-months to adults. We use gentle teaching methods and a survival-first approach to help people of all experience levels become safer, stronger swimmers. British Swim School was founded in Manchester, England in 1981 and our safe, fun, and effective instructional program has made our lessons the preferred choice for parents and students for over 40 years.
British Swim School began in 1981 when founder Rita Goldberg turned her passion for swimming into the UK’s first indoor children’s swim school, built in the basement of her Victorian home in Manchester, England. Driven by her vision for survival-first swim lessons, she developed gentle, effective teaching methods that have remained the foundation of our program for over 40 years.
In 1991, British Swim School expanded to North America, growing into a leading franchise with lessons offered in fitness centers, hotels, and community pools across the U.S. and Canada.
Today, with over 450 locations, we remain committed to Rita’s mission of teaching water survival skills and inspiring confidence in swimmers of all ages.
